Before I begin my review, I should start by saying I am an intermediate level player. I know basic chords and understand some terminology through being in school bands (middle school, jazz band, drum line/marching band), and through almost 15 years of self-taught education (various YouTube tutorials, instruction books, etc.). While I have performed at bars, weddings, malls and have done some pretty awesome things with music, I still feel that there is another level I want to get to, but am missing some fundamental instruction to get to it. I spoke with Vicky, a beautiful and personable lady at the front desk, and she set me up with an appointment.

I’ve been taking guitar lessons with Maurock Academy for a little over a month now. It has been incredibly insightful.

I began with Eduardo, who taught me more of the theory that I was lacking. He showed me practical ways of remembering this theory and how I might be able to apply it to music. This knowledge allowed me to understand music, its literature and notation correctly.

I moved on to Mauricio, who is a wizard with the axe. First day, we brought out the guitar and began practicing scales and chord patterns with the 12-Bar blues. We’ve been practicing piecing together these patterns on the fret board and especially understanding what and why these patterns work.
In just two lessons with him, I have already improved as a guitar player and am understanding and seeing the fretboard in a way that works all together.

I am excited to continue my education with Maurock and to see where I’ll be as a musician in a year, in 6 months even! I highly recommend this place. We spend our money on countless, meaningless things. Invest in yourself! This knowledge and skill, you will keep for years. The pricing is reasonable, the teachers, knowledgeable; and they offer piano, sax, guitar, drums and other lessons for you!

Good luck on your musical journey; and I hope this review has helped you make a decision to choose Maurock Academy.
